Then it became a “what if…” idea followed by months of searching for a location, lining up designers, and sweating every detail. Elisa Bruley’s vision of the perfect retail environment opened in 1993 in the historic One Colorado complex in Old Pasadena.
In 2015, Elisa B. moved to a bigger, brighter, better home on Holly Street in Old Pasadena.
Today, Elisa B. is an airy 1,000 square foot space that is, aesthetically, a 180-degree departure from the the original store. Elisa Bruley’s vision came to life with the help of two extraordinary women: interior designer Susan Alweil-Beard (Susan Alweil Designs) and furniture designer Kamal Sandhu (Boyle Iron & Wood).
The three-way creative collaboration meant tearing down a dividing wall, uncovering and refinishing the original concrete floors, painting all the walls white, and adding fitting rooms, a back office/stockroom and a sliding barn door.
The store is an oasis of clean lines, custom light wood fixtures with white, brass and gold leaf accents, and contemporary light fixtures.
“One of my favorite details is an existing brick wall, which we decided not to paint white, just to keep things eclectic and add a touch of history,” says Bruley.
The store has hosted dozens of memorable parties, charity nights, trunk shows and other events over the years, The best way to get on the guest list is to join the Elisa B. email list! Signature cocktails, live music, swag bags, hunky Santas and more are all part of the Elisa B. experience.
With the addition of an ecommerce store in 2018, one crazy dream became a dream come true for fashionistas everywhere.
